Do I Need Sajda as-Sahw for Mistakes in Sunnah Actions?
Question: If I make a mistake concerning a recommended action in a nawafil (voluntary) prayer, do I have to perform sajda as-sahw? and what happen if i forgot to do Sajda Sahw?
Answer:
If you make a mistake in any prayer, by omitting a recommended action ( a sunnah), you do not have to perform sajda as-sahw (the prostration of forgetfulness).
Sajda as-sahw is required in prayers when:
You forget or skip a obligatory required step (like bowing or prostration), or you doubt the number of rak‘ahs performed, and it’s either after salam or before.
However, in prayers, mistakes in recommended or Sunnah actions generally do not require sajda as-sahw, so if you have missed it by mistakes your prayer is valid.
Exception:
If you are praying Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, or Isha and you miss the first tashahhud, this is considered an emphasized Sunnah (Sunnah mu’akkadah), and sajda as-sahw is required in this case.
